Pastor Compton’s June Second Sunday Sermon

“The Realization of who Jesus is”

John 14:7-9

We often times don’t know the people around us. We find that we are merely acquaintances.

How do you love someone you do t know? Today we pose the question do you really know who Jesus is? We all claim to love Jesus but yet don’t really know him.

In these scriptures Jesus is telling Philip that surely he should know him already. Philip had witnessed enough with Jesus that there should be no question of who Jesus was. Philip had an urge to know Jesus for himself.

How can God’s people ever say I don’t know how I’m gone make it. After all that God has done for you, we should already know that no matter what the situation is. Verse 6 tells is Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Why would you be on frustration over any problem that you may have? The promise has already been given God has not brought you this far to leave you. Whatever you need God has it. I don’t know what he is to you…..but he’s my everything.

Philip was looking for something special and different but he had already seen Jesus and his great works. What we must understand is everything is God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent.

We can’t identify with God because he is too much. How do you identify with God….you can’t he is beyond anything you can see. He is too much God for you to build. God has no limits unlike us. If we just give him a chance he will help us. He will not move the mountain but he will give you the strength to climb the mountain.
